Choosing between 5G and satelite connectivity

5G Connectivity5G Connectivity

Available in Belgium and Luxembourg, 5G is easy to set up, can be used indoors or outdoors, and occupies minimal space. It generally offers slightly better upload speeds than satellite, but may not perform in crowded events such as festivals.

Fair usage and network management

Our Galaxy services are based on the standard data plan of Starlink, which offers unlimited data but includes specific considerations to ensure all users experience fair and optimal connectivity. It is important for our customers to understand that while the data is unlimited, network performance may be adjusted in times of high demand.

According to Starlink's policy: "If bandwidth patterns consistently exceed what is allocated to a typical residential user, Starlink may take network management measures, such as temporarily reducing a customer’s speeds, to prevent or mitigate congestion of the services. Bandwidth intensive applications, such as streaming videos, gaming, or downloading large files, are most likely to be impacted by such actions." Similarly, Mixvoip applies these conditions to our 5G connectivity services to maintain high service quality and prevent network congestion. This ensures that during peak times, the network remains stable and efficient for all users.

Satellite Connectivity

Mounting a Starlink requires careful placement to ensure clear, unobstructed views of the sky. The process involves selecting an optimal location, usually an open area or a rooftop, where the satellite dish can be installed without any interference from trees, buildings, or other obstacles. The mounting kit includes a base that can be secured on various surfaces, ensuring stability. Proper alignment with the satellite's path is crucial for maintaining a strong and consistent internet connection

FAQ

Is mobile connectivity over 5G or satellite reliable?
While mobile connectivity over 5G or satellite may not match the reliability of fiber lines, it is comparable to or better than slow or poor-quality copper DSL connections. These options offer higher speeds and can be a reliable alternative in areas where traditional wired internet is not feasible.
What is the minimum contract duration?
The minimum contract duration for our mobile connectivity services is 4 months.
Why do you provide an additional router for 5G connectivity instead of integrating it with the existing internet router?
Internet routers are often installed in locations with poor mobile connectivity, such as underground rooms, metal racks, or the interior of buildings. Modern building materials can also hinder mobile signals. To ensure optimal connectivity, we provide a separate mobile router that can be placed outdoors or in areas with better signal reception. This approach allows for reliable 5G connectivity where it is most effective.
